There are different types of acoustic treatments and they are used in different ways on how to control the sound made in a studio or in a room where there is a recording. There should be at least one type of treatment that should be installed in the studio. This prevents unwanted frequencies from echoing all over the room and also outside the room. These types of treatments are solutions to the problems of different studios that have neighbouring rooms and also those studios that have a difficult-to-work-with environment.

There are several types of acoustic treatments that are known in the industry today. Sound engineers and manufacturers have formulated all these types to help to maintain high quality of recording on studios. Unlike those in the past years, when studio owners only had thick layers of absorbent materials like egg trays, fibreglass and blankets to cover up their interior walls. This was not enough because it would only absorb minimal frequencies of sounds, thus the vibrations and echoes made by the recording would still be heard from outside the studio. The sound from outside would still be heard inside as well and may be recorded while there is a recording session going on.

Sound engineers should be able to listen and differentiate each and every sound that passes through the recordings. It is very important because if they produce music, the listeners should not be able hear the sound of beeping trucks outside the studio or even the feedback of the instruments that was emitted by the microphone. The layout system of the recording studio is very important to the quality of the recording.

There are two main types of the acoustic treatments, the absorbers and diffusers. Diffusers are used to scatter the sound waves that are produced into different directions and this is based on their type of frequency. Diffusers have irregular surfaces. Other studios and rooms have a material like plywood, and when they install it they try to tilt it at angle over the wall to prevent the sound from bouncing back and forth onto the flat surfaced walls. This will make vibrations over the entire room. There are different types and designs for the diffusers that are sold in the market, these diffusers may have high cost but they are great investments if a person is planning to put up a business that will need high definition sounds.

Absorbers are also called bass traps, but these bass traps are only effective to the low frequency sounds that will be used in large spaces. This is mostly used on different recording studios and listening rooms that needs to flatten the frequency that will cause vibrations due to the big bass range. These panels are sold in the market with different designs that will suit to the owners needs and preferred sound experience. This type is also preferred for those who have a mini cinema in their own homes, this home cinema only emits minimal frequencies and thus this type is suited best.
